Yin Gangqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee at the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation, led a team to conduct an in-depth调研 (research and investigation) at Yangzhu New Material Technology Co., Ltd.

At the Yongchun County Bamboo Industry Demonstration Park, the research team visited the Yangzhu Technology workshop in depth, touring the bamboo raw-material milling facility, the bamboo fiber fully biodegradable pellet production line, and the finished-product manufacturing area. They gained detailed insights into key areas such as enhancing the deep-processing conversion rate of bamboo materials and optimizing low-carbon production processes. Secretary Yin Gangqiang paid special attention to the company’s independently developed bamboo fiber modification technology, which enables blending and co-melting bamboo fibers with other fully biodegradable materials, paving the way for producing a wide range of bamboo-based, fully biodegradable film bags. This innovative approach not only delivers superior performance but also significantly reduces costs, making it a practical and effective alternative to conventional non-biodegradable plastic products. The company’s leader explained that once the project is fully operational, it will consume 400,000 tons of moso bamboo annually, boosting incomes for nearly 20,000 bamboo farming households across 20 townships in southern Fujian’s mountainous region—projecting an average annual income increase of 30% per household.

Secretary Yin Gangqiang engaged in an in-depth discussion with Yangzhu Technology's leadership on the industry layout and future prospects of bamboo-based plastic alternatives.

At the symposium, Yin Gangqiang pointed out that Fujian Yangzhu Company’s practices fully demonstrate the breakthroughs of the "replace plastic with bamboo" strategy across three key dimensions: First, by establishing an innovative chain spanning "bamboo resources—processing technology—end products," the company has developed a systematic solution to replace "white pollution." Second, it has created a collaborative business model involving "enterprises + cooperatives + farmers," effectively transforming lush greenery and clean waters into sustainable momentum for rural revitalization. Third, leveraging the carbon-sequestration capabilities of bamboo fiber materials, the company is paving a quantifiable industrial pathway toward achieving the "dual-carbon" goals. He also suggested strengthening industry-academia-research collaboration to tackle critical technical challenges, particularly in enhancing the strength and weather resistance of bamboo fiber composites, while accelerating the development of a carbon accounting system for bamboo products that aligns with international standards.

Researcher Ma Jianfeng offered recommendations from a market expansion perspective: Currently, companies developing bamboo-fiber-based, fully biodegradable materials and products have already secured biodegradability certifications from the U.S., EU, and Australia. They should seize the growing global momentum of plastic bans and leverage the "Belt and Road" initiative's bamboo product trade channels to position the "China Bamboo Solution" as the preferred choice for international green supply chains. Additionally, he suggested that these cutting-edge technologies be included in the key promotion list of the National Development and Reform Commission’s Three-Year Action Plan to Accelerate the "Replace Plastics with Bamboo" Initiative.

Secretary Yin Gangqiang led a team to conduct an in-depth inspection of the bamboo-fiber biodegradable film experiment at Yangzhu Technology's mulching test field.

This research marks a pivotal leap for "bamboo-to-plastic" initiatives—from laboratory innovation toward large-scale, practical applications. With Yongchun's 300,000-ton-per-year project now fully operational, it is expected to catalyze the creation of a thriving, multi-billion-dollar industrial cluster spanning bamboo cultivation, processing, R&D, and sales. This initiative will serve as a replicable model for realizing the ecological value of bamboo resources in regions globally rich in this sustainable material. As China celebrates the 15th anniversary of the "Two Mountains" theory in practice, the nation’s bamboo industry is leveraging cutting-edge technology to breathe new life into traditional resources, paving the way for a vibrant era of green development.
