Comrade Xu Kunzhen Visits Fujian Yangzhu Technology: Praises "Bamboo for Plastics" Technology for Leading the Green Transformation
2025-07-24 16:19
On May 28, 2025, Xu Kunzhen, former Standing Committee Member of the Quanzhou Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, led a delegation to Fujian Yangzhu New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. for an inspection and guidance visit. Accompanied by Rao Shizhen, General Manager of Yangzhu Technology, Secretary Xu Kunzhen toured the world-leading production line for bamboo-fiber-based, fully biodegradable materials, gaining an in-depth understanding of the innovative achievements behind the company’s closed-loop "Bamboo Forest—Bamboo Powder—Bamboo Fiber Materials" production model.

Breakthrough in Core Technology: Bamboo Fiber Rewrites the History of Materials Science

At the production workshop site, Secretary Xu Kunzhen observed the entire process as bamboo undergoes crushing, ultra-fine grinding, film-blowing, and more—ultimately "transforming" into fully biodegradable bamboo-fiber mulch films, as well as eco-friendly courier bags and shopping bags. Meanwhile, the company’s chief technical officer demonstrated four groundbreaking innovation systems on-site, including the world-first application of bamboo-fiber ultra-nano-micropowder technology and intelligent laser-based dynamic grading-melting technology.
In the raw-material processing workshop, Secretary Xu Kunzhen paid close attention to Yangzhu Technology’s groundbreaking technology for producing ultra-nano-sized bamboo-fiber powder. This innovative process involves grinding bamboo into ultra-fine particles, followed by chemical modification, and then blending and melt-compounding it with fully biodegradable additives to create a high-performance composite material. "We’ve achieved a breakthrough in the density of our bamboo-fiber-based, fully biodegradable particles, now ranging from 0.65 to 0.96 g/cm³—enough to withstand temperatures as high as 120°C to 130°C without deforming," explained Rao Shizhen. He added that this technology addresses key industry challenges associated with conventional biodegradable films, such as their high density, insufficient strength, and tendency to tear easily. At the R&D center, Secretary Xu Kunzhen carefully examined the company’s range of bamboo-fiber-based, fully biodegradable material products. Beyond agricultural mulch films, this technology also enables the production of versatile items like packaging bags, fast-food containers, and even disposable medical gloves—catering to a wide array of everyday applications.
Accelerating production capacity deployment: Building a 300,000-ton-level industrial base

Facing the upcoming launch of Phase II, Secretary Xu Kunzhen carefully inquired about the industry plan. Relying on Yongchun County’s abundant 180,000-mu bamboo forest resources and surrounding reserves of millions of mu of bamboo materials, Yangzhu Technology is rapidly advancing the construction of 120 brand-new production lines. "By the end of August, once Phase II goes into operation, the company will achieve an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of fully biodegradable bamboo fiber materials," Rao Shizhen reported to the research team, highlighting this critical milestone.
Secretary Xu Kunzhen expressed approval of Yangzhu Technology's strategic positioning as the industry leader in building a "bamboo-for-plastic" industrial chain, rooted firmly in Yongchun County. With the company at its core, Yongchun County is steadily attracting upstream and downstream supporting enterprises, actively working to establish a multi-billion-yuan industrial cluster.
Secretary Xu Kunzhen praises Yangzhu's innovative achievement in "replacing plastic with bamboo."

During his research visit, Secretary Xu Kunzhen fully endorsed Yangzhu Technology's innovative achievements and industrial progress in the field of bamboo-fiber-based, fully biodegradable materials. He emphasized that, leveraging the region's abundant bamboo resources, Yangzhu Technology has successfully established a cutting-edge, globally competitive green closed-loop industrial chain—from bamboo forests to bamboo powder and finally to bamboo-fiber materials—effectively addressing the global challenge of "white pollution" with its pioneering "bamboo-for-plastic" Quanzhou solution. Secretary Xu encouraged the company to further intensify its R&D efforts, accelerate the ramp-up of its second-phase production capacity, and continuously explore new applications for its products. He also urged relevant departments to provide robust support and services, working together to nurture and expand this vibrant, green, low-carbon emerging industry, thereby injecting strong momentum into high-quality development. Yangzhu Technology pledged to live up to these expectations, redoubling its efforts to meet the ambitious goal of launching its second-phase production as scheduled, and contributing even greater strength to the creation of a sustainable, circular economy system.
